The 19 O Nine Copyright Act Does Not Contain the Words Work Made for Hire
The 19 o nine copyright act did not contain any ref es whatsoever to how an independent contractor commissioned to create a work should be treated for copyright law purposes. The courts developed their own rules for addressing the problem of independent contractors commission to create a creative work. And so that became the rule throughout the united states for any copyright that was the result of work by an independent contractor and resulted in a copyright under the 19 o nine act.
