True Crime and Trauma Porn Can Be Dehumanizing
There are quite a few risks with the true crime industry apart from what it may do to victims and their families. The people telling these stories will naturally have a bias or inclination to talk about a murder one way or another. This isn't always a major problem, but it can be, especially if someone's desire to tell a good story gets in the way of telling the truth. Some of these programs also go into trauma porn or trauma voyeurism territory, which can lead to victims being remembered solely for their death or for a horrific event that took place in their past.
