What Are These Big Expenses?
The Congressional Budget Report says the U.S. has $3.8 trillion in mandatory expenses, which includes entitlements and non-defense spending. The CBO also expects to bring in about $4.8 trillion this year from tax revenue. That's a negative number that is much higher than what they expected when they did their report last year.
