#161 Phil Armstrong: What’s Fiscal Policy For Again?

We think it's great that there's all these good ideas out there about what the government can spend on. But I just want to emphasize that the money to improve all of those things exists now. And if we've got a crisis like we have with the NHS, then the money to solve it should be spent immediately. We shouldn't have to wait for markets to have positive emotions about our GDP. The emotions aren't a financial constraint for the government. People who can't afford to wait for treatment on the NHS at the moment are paying for private healthcare. So yeah, we've entered quite an ironic phase of late stage capitalism here.
