The incidence of dementia increases exponentially with age, but some people who live to be 100 years retain their cognitive abilities. Andrew Keen: There's this really cool study called the 100 plus study and it's an ongoing prospective cohort study of Dutch centenarians. The combined contributions of these features, which are often concentrated within families,. enrichments with this genetically heritable allele, seems to explain a considerable proportion of the high heritability of reaching 100 years with maintained cognitive health.
