Carbon Charges - What Are They?
Carbon charges or carbon fees are the internal carbon pricing tools that most closely semble the carbon prices that you would see at the policy level. A carbon charge is a fee for each ton of omissions you're responsible for. You pay some amount. At yale we chose forty dollars per ton because it matched the us Federal estimate of the social cost of carbon when we started the programme. We applied this price to omissions coming from powering, heating and cooling buildings at yale.
