The Dis-in-Genuine Nature of Academics

As an academic, particularly in Australia, you're loved to play a game based upon the metrics that you're a judged off of. In my sense, we're judged based on metrics of how much grant funding you're able to bring in and how many publications you recruit per year. What that does, as I said, is it loves people into playing a game. Then you have this real dis-ingenuine nature of people coming out that going, I've got to get my name on some papers. That behaviour is something we really strive to push against. On one hand, we're pushing towards, on the other hand, it's incredibly difficult. We need to embrace this uncertainty
