sequence chronology is one style or approach of synthesis. Other active synthesis that I describe in the book, I call it inference. This is like a really simple technique where you try to collect multiple pieces of information and then extrapolate another piece of information out of that. The one thing on that skill that you have to be okay with is getting things wrong.
