The Connection Between Music and Collective Memory
The concept of collective memory was developed by a french philosopher and sociologist, maurice hawa. The basic idea is that while individuals remember things, groups of people also remember things together. There are two distinct areas of collective memory: small scale individual memories and large scale collective memories. We'll discuss how modernity effects some of the apparent mechanisms and flows involved here with individual and collective memories in this episode.
