People get locked into a moment in time when they will perceive things like school and newspapers as serving one end or another. The term institution, I think, is important because it intimates the question by whom was this instituted and for what purpose? And that's precisely why institutions are targeted: to inculcate sound knowledge and the ability to reason. You need to verify where did this stuff come from.
