Is There a Metaphor for Information Design?

If we design something in a way that resembles the natural world, tha, people have a much better grasp on it. So just the way you lay out a diagram is is meaningful. People abstract maps or environments to essentially networks. And then those networks can represent very abstract thoughts. There is a moticum of space in any visualization. We need to be aware of so that the interpretations don't interfere with te concet lie. O connections between computer networks or social networks, have a special quality that i think people quickly abstract more than anything else.
