Postcres citus is going the other way. They're going fully open sr to a single node with postgress cluster extension. Post grass does have some blockering mechanisms in it, but you might need more. So we've got a link to go into detail about why they chose to do this. I imagine a lot of folks may not have actually encountered citus yet. But i know it's probably the go-to solution for when your note needs to scale up and down.
