The Athenians and the War of Ellis
After Ellis, the fleet then sailed away from the Peloponnese, northwards. They took the Corinthian-controlled port of Solium and entrusted it to some friendly Ocarranians at Palera. The fleet also stormed the town of Astakis on the northern shores of the Corinthian Gulf, expelled its tyrant of Argus, and incorporated it into their alliance. Finally, they seized without a battle the neutral and large wooded island of Kefilonia. Which was strategically located in regards to Ocarranania, Corcyra, and Lucas. These successes in northwestern Greece were a part of Pericles' offensive naval strategy. Afterwards, with these accomplishments in hand
