The Transition From Spain to California in 1769
Horses were not indigenous to North America. The style of horsemanship that came to North America was more what you would do to make a war horse, which was very similar to what they worked stock with in Spain. There are some Spanish bloodlines in the wild horses, which is another conversation for another day. In Oregon, those Kiger horses have a Spanish DNA and that was just a remnant of horses that got away.
