Beowulf is an anglo saxon epic, but it takes place in sweden. The form of the ship burial with helmet as a sort of centrepiece echoes what was found in sweden from about the same era. And so again, this connection, in this carryover of customs, ideas and practices of rulership from sweden to britain, is also then repeated in the suttonhu burial. But there is this looming question, as i mentioned before, where is the body? And what does it mean that no trace of a body was found in the excavation in 19 38, 39?
