In a secular world, how are you going to live? And you're going to live sort of trying to make as much money, trying to secure yourself in the world. If were an accident of genetic mutation, our lives have no meaning. We are simply here to enjoy ourselves if we can while we can, write until e inevitable deaths, or it takes away and there's nothing after that. The version that i often talk about is, you and human species as a whole, we are the self consciousness of the earth itself. There's a certain kind of responsibility rather than thinking us as simply here to exploit its well-being.
The first guest on Emerge is author, philosopher and activist David Loy. David and I first met at the Occupy Boulder General Assembly and our relationship grew from there. David work sits at the intersection of contemplative wisdom and social justice, making him a perfect first guest for Emerge.
In this episode we discuss the ways stories limit and liberate us, the symptoms of living in a world between stories, the nature of the (7+ billion) new stories, the difficulty of acting in integrity with what you know is true, and how to find the meaning of your life.
Enjoy!
