LZ: I love novels that just give me a feel for how a city is or what it's people do, how they talk. Zadie Smith is a great example of an author who does that so well. Do you want to be immersed in the feeling of a place? Or would you rather have more of that kind of historical detail? LZ: It completely depends upon the book. But yeah, like we're talking about writing that tries to capture the experience of a city.
