Freud was diagnosed with carsonoma in the springtime of 19 23, shortly before his 60 seventh birthday. He smoked approximately 20 cigars every day of his adult life for decades and decades. Over those 16 years, he had innumerable surgical procedures, probably over 30 surgical operations. In one year, he saw the same doctor 70 times seven. And to lose one's speaking voice, when you are the father of the talking cure, that must have been an absolutely dreadful, dreadful trome froyd.
