In the early 19 nineties, a geneticis named john hardy found that placs could form when there was a mutation in the protein that produces bata amaloids. The way he explained it made a lot of sense. If we can prevent it from building up and causing all these problems, all systems go. This is still just a hypothesis, though. Right had to take over alsheimer's research after his death.
