The impact of world war two on eastern europe is vastly bigger and more negative than in western europe, or pretty much any region in the world. Some major cities in eastern europe that are not properly rebuilt until the end of the fifties. The 19 forties removed about 55 million souls from eastern europe. It's ten times the whole cost. You have this enormous loss of human capital. But at the same time, as i said, most western european countries have a significantly bigger population by 19 50 that they had by 19 39.
