The Freeman Family's Dilemma
Shane Freeman was shot and killed by a Clay County Sheriff's deputy in 1999. An investigation found that Deputy David Hayes had acted in self-defense. The family refused to believe the deputies' version of events, saying it was cold-blooded murder. Laura played a huge part in helping Ashley come to terms with her brother's loss throughout that year.
