The Death of the Department Store
There was a bubble of sorts right. Yeah, it was a retail bubble so yeah. Like some of what's happening is honestly like right sizing for the number of consumers that we have. So there's that. Then there is the death of the department store, which right. To build them all you had to sign up to department stores as your anchor tenants. Quite often this is a whole complicated real estate thing but quite often the department stores actually own the land under their stores. And somebody else owns the rest of the mall, which is part of why it's actually hard often to redevelop malls because you have to negotiate with all these different entities.
