Mama's Boy Whales - Why Do They Exist?

Researchers have observed Orca whale mothers in the Pacific Northwest sharing their food with their sons, letting the daughters fend for themselves. The working theory is that mothers are trying to ensure the survival of their species by keeping their sons healthy so they can mate with as many female orcas as possible.
