Buddhists are trying to prevent the matter and sensation of this current existence pushing forward like a billiard ball. After all, that would just create more suffering in the world. Navana isn't really heaven in the christian sense - it's not even a blissful state of mind. Itis the extinguishment of desire, whether the desire for pleasure, for existence, even for non existence. Novana is the realization that the self doesn't really exist, and that human desire is therefore empty.
