Discounted Cash Flows in a Recession
I was part of management in a European private equity fund throughout 2020 and 2021. And I can guarantee you the first thing that we did was to brainwash right about every new analyst with the discounted cash flow model. We probably have such a scenario behind us, at least if you're right. You actually have to squeeze people in order to bring inflation down. People are very reluctant to voluntarily cut their spending unless they lose their job.
