The Church's Motivation to Be a Nonprofit Religious Institution

Spencer: The church is in this really strange position where they are doing the opposite of what everyone else would want to do. Most companies want to show huge profits because it benefits stockholders and all that good stuff, right? Spencer: It's a rare occasion where somebody is becoming extremely wealthy in the corporate world and they don't want anybody to know that they've got anything at all. That's sort of a strange concept.
