Rock Allen Raine's Barber
In the mid to late 50s, Barber became one of the biggest stars in British music. He didn't have a big breakout hit until 1959, when he released Patty Fleur engineered by Joe Meek. But long before this big chart success, he was a huge live draw and made regular appearances on TV and radio. And that celebrity status put Barber in a position to do something that changed music forever. Because he desperately wanted to play with his American musical heroes - some of whom had never even had a record released over here.
