Why It's Okay to Use a Hamburger Icon

The hamburger icon seems to generate a lot of clicks. As soon as you mention it, people have a feeling about what it is and how it should be implemented. It's an icon with a clear text label. But on the picture, what has it got above the button? It says menu. Yeah. We've sort of in the web community thought that we were the first to discover the hamburger icon and implemented it. Of course it's one of those icons like the at sign and others that we've come across along the years.
