The average student at Elan school was there for 18 months, but some could be there as long as four years. Following a strict social hierarchy where the students were made to police and inform on themselves,. everyone was split into two classes, strengths and non-strings. Non-strength talked to a strength without being addressed first, or if they talked to another non-strength at all, breaking any of the guilds would result in severe punishment.
