The History of the Basque Children's Committee
Children were a major source of humanitarian concern in Britain throughout the Spanish Civil War. The campaign to support the children very much avoids discussing any rights or wrongs about the civil war. By the end of May 1937, the Basque Children's Committee's Secretary Michael Wilfred Roberts estimated that they'd raised about £22,000. It wasn't just money that was coming in as well. There were lots of offers for accommodation and other things that children need, clothing, toys, things like that.
