The gist of bias is that most of our minds work happens on autopilot. One study says we each had 11 million thoughts, only 40 of which were in our conscious mind and 99.999% of which were outside of our awareness. And as a result, we may sometimes engage in unconscious biases that would surprise us. That's just not the kind of bias I study.
