John Legend's album Ordinary People is the soundtrack to your new novel. Do you always listen to music as you write and what's the relationship for you between music and writing? I can never write to a music that has words in it because the words to distract. When did the title, Ordinary People, emerge in the writing or after or at the beginning? That was right at the end, actually. The original title had many titles. It was called Friends and Family at one point, which is really wack. And then it was called Bell Green for a very long time, which is an area in South London where the set wasn't at all right when we were actually going
