The EPA's Cleanup of the Denny Farm

There were 40 abandoned dump sites in Missouri that tested positive for dioxin, totaling over 500,000 tons of contaminated soil. To clean up the sites, the EPA built a state-of-the-art dioxin incinerator at the Denny farm. As of September 6, 2017, the Superfund program has reclaimed almost 400 contaminated sites, with over 1,300 sites remaining on the waiting list. The Trump administration's initial budget for 2018 proposes a 30% cut in the program's funding. Senator Edward Markey from Massachusetts responded by saying there would be 'great harm' if cuts are made.
