The technology is fairly straightforward and you can buy a lot of the reagents through companies without having to do any work yourself. The two main components are a guide RNA that is going to allow an enzyme called CAUS-9 to cut a specific site in the genome. It puts that gene editing kit into more people's hands, more non-specialist hands, potentially. There are biohackers who are promoting this to be done. So these are people who want to modify themselves in some way so they are advertising kits to buy or you can... it's pretty dangerous but if you're doing it yourself it's your own fault if something goes wrong.
