Freud thought dreams were this core part of our psychology. In the 1950s, researchers found their on-ramp: rapid eye movement sleep. Now we can study dreams more objectively by waking people up during REM sleep and asking them what they had been dreaming. Bill said that basically you could get the same information out of people but just talking to them while they're awake.
Dreams are weird, but can they be a scientific tool? Can they teach us anything about humanity? About ourselves?
