The Heating Elements of a Coffee Maker

The heating element is not an external one. It's part of the machine. And it uses resistive heating to elevate the water's temperature rapidly. Resistance is dependent upon a couple of things, the material itself and how big a diameter of wire you have. The thicker the wire, the lower the resistance.
