Think about how much wealfare has increased by the fact that the effect of natural disasters have been so minimized ver the last hundred years. There've been many events in human history where people have turned on each other, and where changes in regimes have really led toh large decrease. Think what venezuela would happened there. It's not a given that we can keep it. We have to appreciate what we have. Doesn't mean we shouldn't improve it if we can. But let's not throw away the baby with the bath water. That seems important too. Let's keep what was working before, and try to improve the things that weren't working.
