The Importance of Examples in Literary Criticism
In literary criticism, we clearly work from examples. We pick out some strands and say here are important things to think about if you want to think about modernism. But they're not, they are, they're nature, not exhaustive. You can never come up with an idea of modernism as that would - a concept of modernism that you could sustain by reading all modernist works and find no exceptions and so on. It's undoable, right? And that's why I think all literary critics should warn to, that Kinstanu essentially says it's the wrong method anyway.
