The Virtual Reality Craze of the Early Nineties
Linda jacobsen is cofounding editor of wired magazine and the world's first professional vr evangelist. By the end of the decade, virtual reality had become a bit of a joke with wild eyed fantasies like the lorn mor man cited as proof that the whole thing had been a fad. So much had been promised and so little had been delivered. The crowd had moved on. It was really sad to see viar going into eclipse, but the constraint of the cost of computing in those days was so high that it became impossible to monotize.
