Whales Are Important to South Georgia's Oceans

The island of South Georgia sits isolated in the middle of the southern ocean. Most of the noise that you can hear is coming from King penguins. Whales have long been important to South Georgia, but not for a very positive reason. From about 1916, this was the center of the whaling industry. The right whales were called right whales because they were the right whales to kill.
