I cannot imagine what it must be like to spend like six hours working on, you know, conceiving of something in a higher dimension and then feeling like you're getting pretty close to it. I kind of get annoyed with people who sort of expect that we should have the answers to all of these things or whatever. There is a whole strain in analytic philosophy where people are like, okay, and we've solved this much math. And therefore we understand the nature of the universe or whatever. We're basically just giraffes here.
In this episode we explore the weirdness and wonder of Math Without Numbers with mathematician Milo Beckman who wrote a book about the math behind multiple infinities, strange topologies, and extra dimensions, all without using numbers to explain some of the most fascinating and complex ideas that usually only make sense when scribbled in strange notations on a blackboard.
