There's this line where you say that a friend of yours said, for anyone trying to discern what to do with their life, the best thing to do is to pay attention. I mean, do you think of that as a lot of your job as a writer? It's all listening all almost all life is, right? Like, if you're paying careful attention, this is the pleasure of being in the company of great comedians: They're experts at listening. And more than being good at telling jokes, they're good at paying a really careful kind of attention.
