The Different Layers of the Bible

The Bible has so many different layers that it shows how layered the Bible is. We resonate with characters when we can see aspects of ourselves and them but also character stories are instructive to us. Why would anybody nowadays read ancient Israelite literature poetry and narrative? It's a out of devotion to Jesus to understanding him so I can follow him with greater consistency and devotion. The whole story of the Old Testament is a cyclical pattern working in a forward building forward momentum to lead up to a figure he said was Israel's Messiah or an ointed one.
