The History of Astronomy

The history of astronomy has changed considerably over time. In many societies, the study of astronomy was extremely practical. States depended on astronomy to mark calendars and facilitate navigation. But in other eras such as ancient China or ancient Babylonia, astronomy in the state were more tightly coupled.
