The Standard View of Forgiveness
The standard view says that to forgive is to overcome blame towards a person for a perceived culpable effect. But not all of them seem to be what's going on when we think of forgiving a person, right? So at least according to some empirical research, which I've been part of, it is good for your cardiovascular health to forgive. It's way harder to get their benefits to overcoming your blame, to thinking through why you might no longer blame a person.
