Is There a Difference Between Self and Self?
Chris: I really want help people find freedom in their life, and not just support autonomy, but really help them find, at the deepest level possible, this sense of, this is my lifeit i get to do with this life to a large degree, as i choose. Chris: Positive emotions aren't just things that feel good, right? That make you kind of break the tension and make you happy, make you laugh. They certainly serve that function. And so what i'm trying to do with m i is help somebody really find freedom to be more who they want to be, and live the life that they want to livea the way that fits together with the positive emotions.

Chris is an associate professor, licensed clinical psychologist, and certified rehabilitation counselor. His scholarship focuses on motivational interviewing (MI) and interpersonal processes in mental health/substance abuse treatment. He has focused on expanding MI theory and practice to a broader focus than originally conceived as well as developing MI group psychotherapy. He is the lead author on the MI in Groups book that is part of the official Guilford Press series on MI. His practice and training has included outpatient, inpatient and residential treatment of individuals and groups with a variety of health, mental health and addiction problems.
