The Limits of Open Source Culture
People who grew up over the past 15 or 20 years with openness as the end goal are starting to see more clearly that openness has its own serious limitations in protecting shared wealth. It's odd because an open platform is really a libertarian kind of cooperation. There's not really the social commitment or governance, as you say. So it may resemble a commons, but it doesn't really enact it very well - which I think is maybe one of the serious dramas we're seeing these days.
