Ex-Muslim: This is a Difficult Conversation | Sarah Haider

TRIGGERnometry

CHAPTER

The Importance of Competing Ideologies

I think what the Muslim world needs is just that kernel of doubt. The average person can actually live with a good deal of cognitive dissonance. I have Catholic friends who are fairly religious and they might say strange things, but we're, to me, strange when I first started. They might say things like, I'm a Catholic, but I think gay marriage is, you know, fine. Or I think some abortion should be okay in some contexts. It implies a level of doubt in your own belief,. it doesn't have to be a lot, just a little, enough to make room for something else to come in and make a claim. Just looking at it from just extremists alone
