Hegel stands as some kind of monumental figure in the history of philosophy. He was around during the french revolution, and was very enthusiastic hinjhe. You can't study philosophy without coming across him. Hate him or love that's my two cents. I didn't know previously that the people that taught me hegel were, in fact, revisionists on hegel. The mature hegel is all about the absolute spirit and us as manifestations of god. And connossounding like leibnitz and things like that. Seems very traditional in certain ways.
