In this special episode all about Vermeer we're going to focus on a work which has proved controversial in Vermeer scholarship. The work is in the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC and it's called Girl with Flute. In an interesting way Vivian Westwood who passed away is maybe an exact reaction but also still playing with desire. It almost is like a prelude to Jeff Coons and the new right there's a direct lineage between Vermeer, Ed Hopper, the modernist French painters who kind of rediscovered him and Jeff Coons.
